Biografía. / Biography.

«Nací en Barcelona en el año 77. Me interesé por el mundo del teatro desde pequeña. Primero como espectadora, después empecé clases de interpretación, y con 18 años me apunté a mi primer curso de dramaturgia en la Sala Beckett. Sin duda, Javier Daulte y Sergi Belbel, fueron los profesores que más me marcaron. Por aquel entonces estudiaba filología hispánica y pronto lo dejé para pasarme al Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, dónde me licencié en Dirección y Dramaturgia. Aún no había terminado y estrené en el Teatre Versus de Barcelona, dos obras a la vez. Una en horario de tarde y la otra de noche. (Primer aprendizaje de esta profesión, el trabajo remunerado tarda en llegar, pero cuando llega, llega de dos en dos.) La primera obra era el taller de fin de carrera del Institut, La gran noche de Lurdes G. y la otra mi primera obra escrita por mi cuenta: Queremos ir al Tibidabo. Esta experiencia me sirvió para darme cuenta que escribir me satisfacía y me hacía sufrir, a partes iguales. Desde entonces he escrito más de veinte obras, algunas premiadas, también he participado como guionista en diversas series de televisión, y he escrito el guion de un par de películas.» (Cristina Clemente).

«I was born in Barcelona in 1977 and developed an interest in theater from a young age. First as a spectator, then by taking acting classes, and at 18, I enrolled in my first playwriting course at Sala Beckett. Without a doubt, Javier Daulte and Sergi Belbel were the teachers who influenced me the most. At the time, I was studying Hispanic Philology, but I soon switched to the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, where I earned a degree in Directing and Playwriting. Before graduating, I premiered two plays simultaneously at the Teatre Versus in Barcelona—one in the afternoon and the other at night. (A key lesson in this profession: paid work takes time to arrive, but when it does, it comes in pairs.) One of the plays was my final-year project at the Institut, *La gran noche de Lurdes G.*, and the other was my first independently written work, *Queremos ir al Tibidabo*. This experience taught me that writing both fulfills me and challenges me in equal measure. Since then, I’ve written over twenty plays, some of which have won awards. I’ve also contributed as a screenwriter for several television series and written the scripts for a couple of films.» (Cristina Clemente).

Escritura. / Style.

«Me interesa el teatro que emociona. Si puede ser que mezcle lo cómico y lo dramático. Si el espectador, durante la recepción de una obra, llora a borbotones y también ríe a carcajadas, me siento satisfecha. Me gustan los héroes cotidianos, aquellos que no aparecerán jamás en las enciclopedias, ni en los libros de historia, pero que gracias a sus hazañas, han hecho más felices a los de su alrededor.» (Cristina Clemente).

«I’m interested in theatre that stirs passions in spectators. Ideally, one that mixes elements of comedy and drama. If the spectator, when watching the play, gushes with tears and also roars with laughter, I feel like my job is done. I like everyday heroes. Those who you never find in encyclopaedias or history books, but whose exploits have brought happiness to those around them.» (Cristina Clemente).
