Biografía. / Biography.

«Estudié Interpretación en diversas escuelas de Barcelona. Finalmente -y después de empezar y no acabar unas cuantas carreras universitarias- estudié Dirección y Dramaturgia en el Instituto del Teatro de Barcelona. Paralelamente creaba mi primera compañía de teatro: ESTRIP-TRSIT. Con la que estrené mis primeros textos. Poco a poco desarrollé mi faceta como profesor de interpretación, y compaginaba también la escritura teatral, con colaboraciones en diversos programas de radio. Con la creación de LA GUAPA TEATRE, mi proyecto más personal, he estrenado seis montajes como director y dramaturgo, mientras dirigía o escribía -otras tantas- por encargo. Mirando hacía atrás puedo decir que he tenido la suerte de poder estrenar mis obras en teatros y festivales magníficos. Mirando hacia adelante, puedo decir que tengo ganas de más.» (Marc Angelet).

«I studied Acting at various schools in Barcelona. Eventually—and after starting and not finishing several university degrees—I studied Directing and Playwriting at the Institut del Teatre of Barcelona. At the same time, I founded my first theatre company: ESTRIP-TRIST, with which I premiered my first texts. Little by little, I developed my work as an acting teacher, while combining playwriting with collaborations on various radio programmes. With the creation of LA GUAPA TEATRE, my most personal project, I have premiered six productions as director and playwright, while also writing and directing several others on commission. Looking back, I can say I’ve been lucky to see my work staged in wonderful theatres and festivals. Looking ahead, I can say I’m hungry for more.» (Marc Angelet).

Escritura. / Style.

«No seré el primer autor -ni el último- en decir que me cuesta definir mi escritura. He ido dando bandazos por diversos géneros y estilos, sin casarme con nada ni con nadie. He tocada la comedia social, el teatro protesta, el thriller, la ciencia-ficción, el teatro documental, el musical de gran y pequeño formato, hasta he coqueteado con la Opera. He jugado con diversos métodos de escritura y creación en mis espectáculos -dramaturgias compartidas, colectivas…-. Aún así hay quien dice que detecta cierta firma en mis textos. No seré yo quien diga lo contrario, ni seré yo quien descifre dicha firma.» (Marc Angelet).

«I won’t be the first author – and neither will I be the last – who claims they find it hard to define their own style. I’ve veered my way through a wide range of genres and styles, and am yet to get married to anything or anyone. I’ve dabbled in social comedies, protest theatre, thrillers, science-fiction pieces, documentary-style plays and large and small-scale musicals, and have even flirted with opera on occasions. I have tried my hand at various writing and creation methods in my portfolio of work, including shared and collective pieces, etc. Despite this, some people claim to detect a common trait that runs through my texts. I won’t be the person to say otherwise, but neither will I be the person to decipher this trait.» (Marc Angelet).
