Sinopsis. / Synopsis.
«La palabra ofender viene del latín offendere, compuestopor el prefijo ob- (enfrentamiento) y un antiguo verbo (fendere), ya perdido en el latín clásico, y que significa golpear, incluso herir». ¿Hasta dónde puede llegar una ofensa? ¿Quién tiene derecho a ofenderse? En un mundo donde los límites de lo políticamente correcto están siendo dinamitados, la obra de Pablo López Pellicer se muestra ambigua, juguetona y provocativa. De la carcajada a la risa congelada, experimentando con las fronteras del humor, doce escenas van recorriendo situaciones que, a pesar del absurdo de algunas de ellas, son perfectamente reconocibles por la cercanía de lo tratado. La mezquindad humana, la imposibilidad de efectuar lecturas fuera de la literalidad o la imposibilidad de distanciarnos respecto a ciertos temas van desarrollándose a través de un conjunto de personajes quedan buena muestra de la complejidad del ser humano. "The word 'offend' comes from the Latin offendere, composed of the prefix ob- (confrontation) and an old verb (fendere), which is no longer used in classical Latin and means to strike, even to wound." How far can an offense go? Who has the right to be offended? In a world where the boundaries of political correctness are being blown apart, Pablo López Pellicer’s play is ambiguous, playful, and provocative. From laughter to frozen smiles, experimenting with the boundaries of humor, twelve scenes explore situations that, despite the absurdity of some, are easily recognizable due to their relevance. Human meanness, the impossibility of reading beyond the literal, or the inability to distance ourselves from certain topics unfold through a set of characters that demonstrate the complexity of human nature. Escribí El manifiesto de la ofensa tras leer un artículo de opinión en el que Arturo Pérez Reverte hacía alusiones al manifiesto comunista. A partir de ahí se sembró la idea de responder a su artículo escribiendo un manifiesto por la ofensa. Inicié un proceso de documentación, hablé con personas de todos los perfiles sobre los temas más sensibles de nuestros días y reflexioné sobre el discurso público, el lenguaje y el cuerpo como territorios políticos para indagar en la (i)legitimidad de la ofensa. El resultado es la sátira que componen las doce escenas de este manifiesto.
I wrote The Manifesto of Offense after reading an opinion article in which Arturo Pérez Reverte made references to the Communist Manifesto. From there, the idea of responding to his article by writing a manifesto for offense was born. I began a process of documentation, spoke with people from all profiles about the most sensitive issues of our time, and reflected on public discourse, language, and the body as political territories to explore the (il)legitimacy of offense. The result is the satire composed of the twelve scenes in this manifesto.

Biografía. / Biography.
Le dijeron en una de sus primeras clases de teatro que había dos perfiles en la dramaturgia: quienes venían de las artes escénicas y quienes venían de la literatura. Él pertenece al segundo grupo. Al cumplir los dieciocho, cursó estudios de Filología Hispánica en la Universidad de Murcia. Dos años después, cursó el Máster en Formación del Profesorado junto al de Estudios Latinoamericanos en la Universidad de Granada. Durante su estancia en esta ciudad, aprovechó para formarse teatralmente en talleres de dirección, interpretación, creación escénica y escritura dramática. Más adelante, decidió profesionalizarse e ingresó en la Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Murcia para cursar el grado en Dirección Escénica y Dramaturgia. Durante este proceso, ha recibido formación de pedagogos teatrales como Gracia Morales, José Sanchís Sinisterra, María Velasco, Sergio Martínez Vila, Denise Despeyroux, Andrés Lima o Marcelo Díaz.
They told him in one of his first theater classes that there are two profiles in dramaturgy: those who come from the performing arts and those who come from literature. He belongs to the second group. At the age of eighteen, he studied Hispanic Philology at the University of Murcia. Two years later, he pursued a Master's in Education and Latin American Studies at the University of Granada. During his time in this city, he took the opportunity to train theatrically in workshops on direction, acting, scenic creation, and dramatic writing. Later on, he decided to professionalize and entered the Higher School of Dramatic Art of Murcia to study the degree in Stage Direction and Dramaturgy. During this process, he received training from theater pedagogues such as Gracia Morales, José Sanchís Sinisterra, María Velasco, Sergio Martínez Vila, Denise Despeyroux, Andrés Lima, and Marcelo Díaz.
Escritura. / Style.
«La desprotección, la carencia y el misterio forman el triángulo desde el que proyecto un universo dramático que se define y redefine en cada proceso creativo. Entiendo la creación artística como un acto de expresión desprendida de todo accesorio moralista o pedagógico, estrechamente vinculada a lo difícilmente aprensible, a lo que se resiste a ser explicado y definido. De ese modo, busco mediante la dramaturgia explorar las grietas y patologías que configuran las tensiones de lo contemporáneo. Estas tensiones son tanto personales como políticas, ya que habitan en mi sociedad tanto como habitan en mi cuerpo. Creo en el teatro como un espacio emancipador donde la imaginación colectiva, colonizada por las opresiones contemporáneas, encuentra un espacio de libertad y autonomía efímeras, así como la capacidad para construir nuevas subjetividades, relatos e imaginarios.» (Pablo López Pellicer).
«Vulnerability, lack, and mystery form the triangle from which I project a dramatic universe that is defined and redefined in each creative process. I understand artistic creation as an act of expression detached from any moralistic or pedagogical accessory, closely linked to what is difficult to grasp, to what resists being explained and defined. In this way, I seek through dramaturgy to explore the cracks and pathologies that shape the tensions of the contemporary. These tensions are both personal and political, as they inhabit my society as much as they inhabit my body. I believe in theater as an emancipatory space where collective imagination, colonized by contemporary oppressions, finds a space of ephemeral freedom and autonomy, as well as the capacity to build new subjectivities, narratives, and imaginaries.» (Pablo López Pellicer).
