Biografía. / Biography.

Secretamente, Verónica Bujeiro siempre quiso teatro, pero pensó que era un anhelo común a todo aquel que se sienta en una butaca. Egresada de la Licenciatura en Lingüística de la Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia, y con estudios en guión cinematográfico, su destino viró hacia el drama cuando el fallo de un premio de dramaturgia joven la declaró finalista y así fue como encontró que el teatro era el cauce natural para las contradicciones que la habitan. Su formación profesional se dio por la fortuna de obtener algunas becas literarias patrocinadas por el FONCA-México y la Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas, así como en talleres en donde conoció las herramientas de su oficio y la generosidad de maestros como David Olguín y Ximena Escalante. Gracias al teatro, también ha logrado conocer otros mundos a través de los programas de Lark Play Development Center en Nueva York, el Instituto del Teatro de Praga en Chequia, y Panorama Sur en Buenos Aires. En su lista de oficios se encuentran el de ilustradora, articulista, docente y crítica de teatro.

Secretly, Verónica Bujeiro always wanted theater, but she thought it was a longing common to anyone who sits in an audience seat. A graduate in Linguistics from the National School of Anthropology and History, with additional studies in screenwriting, her path shifted toward drama when a young playwright award panel named her a finalist, and that’s how she discovered that theater was the natural channel for the contradictions that inhabit her. Her professional training was shaped by the fortune of receiving several literary grants sponsored by FONCA-México and the Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas, as well as through workshops where she learned the tools of her craft and benefited from the generosity of mentors such as David Olguín and Ximena Escalante. Thanks to theater, she has also had the opportunity to explore other worlds through programs at Lark Play Development Center in New York, the Theatre Institute in Prague, Czechia, and Panorama Sur in Buenos Aires. Her list of roles includes illustrator, writer, teacher, and theater critic.

«Mi dramaturgia es reconocida por una marcada influencia del teatro del absurdo y un tono fársico en el que el humor se encuentra dentro de un callejón sin salida en donde no queda más que cuestionarnos sobre nuestra identidad y certezas. La risa es para mí rebelión, inconformidad, una fiesta a favor y en contra de nuestra mortalidad. Fiel a mi procedencia académica, el teatro me ha dado la oportunidad de explorar mis personajes a través de su máscara de lenguaje. Pese a la extrañeza de mis obras y su aparente distancia con lo común, mi mayor fuente de “inspiración” es la realidad. El teatro para mí es más pregunta que respuesta, un territorio fértil de significación.» (Verónica Bujeiro).

«My playwriting is renowned for being clearly influenced by the theatre of the absurd and the use of a farcical tone, in which humour is found in a dead-end street where no option remains but to ask questions about our own identity and truths. Laughter, for me, is rebellion, non-conformity, a party that both celebrates and denounces our mortality. Staying loyal to my academic roots, theatre has given me the opportunity to explore my characters through its mask of language. Despite the strangeness of my works and how far from common they appear to be, my greatest source of “inspiration” is reality. Theatre, for me, is more about asking questions that giving answers; a fertile territory of meaning.» (Verónica Bujeiro).
