Biografía. / Biography.

«Nací en el extrarradio de la ciudad de Barcelona y eso, y ser mujer, han constituido los pilares de quién soy y desde dónde miro el mundo. Porque a veces, como dramaturga y directora de escena, es eso lo que me parece que hago constantemente: observar el mundo, dialogar con él. Mi formación en el Institut del Teatre de Barcelona en Dirección y Dramaturgia y el contacto con grandes referentes para mí como son Txiki Berraondo o Magda Puyo me han ayudado a entender este oficio y a construir y entrenar a la artesana que hay en mí, inventora de mundos imaginarios que me ayudan a entender la realidad que me rodea. En paralelo a mi formación, empiezo mis primeros trabajos con una compañía de creación colectiva, Projecte Margot y, más tarde, con Paradiso 99, como directora y dramaturga, creando y montando mis propios textos. La afición a la lectura de mi madre y mi formación como filóloga me regalaron el amor hacia la literatura, hacia la poesía -que sugiere más que muestra- y el gusto por saborear el trabajo de aquellos que pueden ver más allá que uno mismo. Mi trabajo diario como docente de Artes escénicas con gente joven me obliga a concretar las intuiciones y me permite abrir reales en los demás como otros lo hicieron conmigo. Puro placer. Y escribir canciones y vivir y la conciencia política y amar...» (Begoña Moral).

«I was born in the outskirts of the city of Barcelona, and that—along with being a woman—has shaped who I am and how I view the world. Because sometimes, as a playwright and stage director, that’s what I feel I’m constantly doing: observing the world, engaging in dialogue with it. My training at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona in Directing and Playwriting, along with my contact with great mentors like Txiki Berraondo and Magda Puyo, have helped me understand this craft and build and train the artisan within me—an inventor of imaginary worlds that help me make sense of the reality around me. Alongside my training, I began my first projects with a collective creation company, Projecte Margot, and later with Paradiso 99, as a director and playwright, creating and staging my own texts. My mother’s love of reading and my training as a philologist gifted me with a love for literature, for poetry—which suggests more than it shows—and a taste for savoring the work of those who can see beyond oneself. My daily work as a performing arts teacher with young people forces me to clarify intuitions and allows me to open real possibilities in others, just as others did with me. Pure pleasure. Escritura. / Style.

«Intento escribir sobre aquello que nos define como seres humanos, sobre nuestro comportamiento, sobre cuál es la relación que establecemos con el otro. A la vez que me interesa indagar sobre los mecanismos políticos que estructuran nuestro mundo, sobre el poder, sobre la posibilidad de la bondad. Y me interesa hacerlo a partir de la mezcla de materiales diversos, del collage: documento, poesía, escenas cotidianas, la presencia fuerte de la escenificación dentro de la escritura, la distorsión, la repetición, la fragmentación, los referentes culturales contemporáneos musicales, filosóficos... La mirada nace desde un lugar de reivindicación política y, a la vez, se construye siempre en contraste y diálogo con lo personal e íntimo. Me interesa el juego entre lo colectivo y lo individual, ya sea hablando sobre las consecuencias de la dictadura franquista, el cambio climático o la expresión de lo marginal. Y creo que la fascinación por el cuerpo humano, por nuestra ficisidad y por la danza y el movimiento salpican también toda mi escritura. Poesía, cuerpo y reivindicación política podrían ser un buen resumen de mi forma de escribir. Algunos de mis referentes: en lo teatral, la escritura visceral de Angélica Liddell, el teatro de Brecht, el Pinter más salvaje y oscuro, Shakespeare, El Conde de Torrefiel, Pina Bausch... pero también lo cinematográfico: Wong Kar Wai, David Lynch... y lo poético y literario como Joyce, Cortázar, Lorca, Faulkner, el Neruda de Residencia en la tierra...» (Begoña Moral).

«I try to write about what defines us as human beings, about our behavior, about the relationships we establish with others. At the same time, I am interested in exploring the political mechanisms that structure our world, power, and the possibility of goodness. I like to do this through a mixture of diverse materials, a collage: documents, poetry, everyday scenes, the strong presence of staging within the writing, distortion, repetition, fragmentation, and contemporary cultural references—musical, philosophical... My perspective arises from a place of political reivindication and, at the same time, is always built in contrast and dialogue with the personal and intimate. I am interested in the interplay between the collective and the individual, whether speaking about the consequences of the Franco dictatorship, climate change, or expressions of marginality. I also believe that a fascination with the human body, our physicality, and dance and movement colors all my writing. Poetry, body, and political reivindication could sum up my way of writing. Some of my influences include, in theater, the visceral writing of Angélica Liddell, Brecht’s theater, the wildest and darkest Pinter, Shakespeare, El Conde de Torrefiel, Pina Bausch... but also cinema: Wong Kar Wai, David Lynch... and the poetic and literary world like Joyce, Cortázar, Lorca, Faulkner, Neruda’s Residencia en la tierra...» (Begoña Moral).
