Sinopsis. / Synopsis.

16 de junio de 1944. Es de noche. Treinta resistentes antinazis son ejecutados en un descampado cercano a Lyon a manos de la Gestapo. Entre el grupo que espera la muerte, un hombre parece fuera de contexto: tiene casi sesenta años y aspecto de profesor despistado. Se trata de Marc Bloch, historiador fundamental del siglo xx, defensor de una historia más humana. Setenta y un años después, en 2015, un estudiante universitario se enamora de la hija de su profesor de historia. Los tres personajes que conforman este triángulo intentan comprender un poco mejor las relaciones que viven entre ellos. ¿Podemos llegar a conocer las ilusiones, las sombras e, incluso, los silencios de los demás?

16 June 1944. Night has fell. Thirty anti-Nazi resistance prisoners are executed in a waste ground just outside of Lyon at the hands of the Gestapo. Among the group awaiting their death, one man seems out of place: he is almost 60 and looks like an absent-minded professor. This was Marc Bloch: a key historian of the 20th century who was a renowned defender of a more humane history. In 2015, seventy one years later, a university student falls in love with the daughter of his history teacher. The three people comprising this triangle try to gain a better grasp of the relationships existing among them. Can we ever really understand the dreams, dark moments or even silences of other people?

Este espectáculo pretende ser un homenaje a una forma de entender y vivir la historia a partir de la obra del historiador y resistente antinazi Marc Bloch. Intenta acercarnos a esta ciencia, a una historia que no es ajena a los anhelos, a las luces y a las sombras de cada uno de nosotros, porque su objeto de estudio son las personas y sus consciencias, no una lista interminable de reyes y batallas. Es a partir de esta humanidad que la historia nos puede acompañar en la experiencia de vivir, y a partir de ella se ha ido construyendo esta obra teatral.

This performance is intended as a tribute to a way of understanding and experiencing history based on the work of the historian and anti-Nazi resistor Marc Bloch. It seeks to bring us closer to this discipline, to a history that is not detached from our desires, our lights, and our shadows, because its focus is on people and their consciences, not an endless list of kings and battles. It is through this humanity that history can accompany us in the experience of living, and from this perspective, this theatrical work has been built.

Biografía. / Biography.

Jan Vilanova estudió cine en la ESCAC en la especialidad de montaje. También es graduado en Historia por la Universidad de Barcelona. A lo largo de su carrera, ha combinado el trabajo de montador con la dramaturgia, estrenando en teatros como el TNC, Teatre LLiure o la Sala Beckett. En 2013 crea la productora teatral Sixto Paz con un grupo de amigos, hasta que en 2019 emprende su propio camino. En los últimos años ha desarrollado la labor de profesor en escritura dramática. Paralelamente ha colaborado con algunas revistas como Política&Prosa y La maleta de Portbou.

Jan Vilanova studied film at ESCAC, specializing in editing, and also holds a degree in History from the University of Barcelona. Throughout his career, he has combined his work as an editor with dramaturgy, premiering plays at venues such as the TNC, Teatre Lliure, and Sala Beckett. In 2013, he co-founded the theater company Sixto Paz with a group of friends, before embarking on his own path in 2019. In recent years, he has also worked as a teacher of dramatic writing. At the same time, he has collaborated with magazines such as Política&Prosa and La maleta de Portbou.

«Verano de 2025: después de unos cuantos años, reescribo completamente esta sección. Demasiadas certezas perdidas, muchas más preguntas que respuestas en términos de qué es la escritura, qué es mi escritura, qué hace que algo sea interesante. Qué buena noticia, en realidad, esta nueva situación. Me atrae la vida humana, los seres humanos: nuestras sombras, nuestras contradicciones, torpezas, deseos... Intento que todo esto aparezca en mis obras. Me atrae mucho, también, la historia. Comencé a estudiarla pasados los treinta pensando que perdía el tiempo y se ha convertido en una parte inseparable de mi dramaturgia y de mi vida. Intento cambiar, descubrir nuevos territorios, probar otras formas de narrar.» (Jan Vilanova Claudín).

«Summer 2025: after a few years, I completely rewrite this section. Too many certainties lost, far more questions than answers about what writing is, what my writing is, what makes something interesting. In truth, this new situation feels like good news. I am drawn to human life, to human beings: our shadows, our contradictions, clumsiness, desires… I try to bring all of this into my plays. I am also deeply drawn to history. I began studying it after turning thirty, thinking I was wasting my time, and it has become an inseparable part of my dramaturgy and my life. I strive to change, to discover new territories, to try out other ways of telling stories.» (Jan Vilanova Claudín).
